Lighting Design

The workshop is proposed as a specific study on the theme of interior light design, both natural and artificial.

Starting from the concept of visual comfort, the theoretical and practical arguments will be developed that allow a designer to use the light sources and luminaires on the market in the most appropriate way.

  • The lighting project
  • Types of light sources: characteristics of the different sources.
  • psychology of perception and luminous comfort.
  • Natural light: analysis of the incidence of natural light in interior spaces, tools for managing and controlling natural light
  • Artificial light: evolution of artificial light sources
  • Direct, indirect and reflected light: shapes and materials of the luminaires.
  • Layering light in interior design
  • The choice of suitable sources and appliances in the design of domestic, work and convivial spaces.
  • The lighting needs of each environment and how to best satisfy them

The light in practice exercise: carrying out a small interior lighting project.

Study notes will be provided for the course.

A certificate of participation and an assessment of the skills acquired will be issued.
